In the past five years, the SSC has changed the way Singaporeans view and participate in sports. For the first time in our country's 40-year plus history, Singapore has a true sports ecology - a fully integrated system of excellence, participation and industry - to realise our immediate needs as well as our long-term sports ambitions. These goals were first established by the Committee on Sporting Singapore in 2001. Through sports, we now have an enhanced national identity thanks to our sports participation programmes; greater national pride as a result of high performance results at international and regional games; and more diversified economic stability through our vibrant sports industry initiatives. The sports participation team in SSC develops sports outreach programmes for all Singaporeans through lifestyle marketing, collaborative partnerships with the private sector and other government agencies and steadily improving access to the best facilities and sports opportunities in Asia. The sports excellence team promotes international sporting excellence in targeted sports. We take an athlete-focused, coach-driven approach with a strong emphasis on sports medicine and science to increase our competitive edge. Our ongoing education and accreditation programmes will strengthen the capabilities of our high performance coaches and technical officials. The sports industry team is building a sustainable sports industry to maintain our contribution to the greater economy and to help finance our programmes into the next decade and beyond. Working with our government and corporate partners, we promote major events, sponsorship and television rights, corporate expansion and relocation to Singapore and the creation of new businesses. Two SSC megaprojects will drive capital investment in Singapore sports in the near future. The Singapore Sports Hub will be a world-class sports centre for excellence and leisure, designed to cement our reputation as a leading sports destination in Asia. This megaproject will house the new Sports Institute in addition to hosting international, regional and community events. The Changi Motorsports Hub will transform unused land next to Changi International Airport into a new sports-entertainment complex with a permanent racetrack and a vast array of sports and leisure opportunities. Singapore is the city for sports in Asia. To find out more, visit our website www.ssc.gov.sg
