"Singapore Power is a place where young engineers can look forward to gaining all-rounded experiences in power engineering. Colleagues are always willing to teach and share their knowledge. As a scholar, I had the opportunity to undergo various job rotations to different departments. This allowed me to gain experiences in both field operations as well as network planning. The company is supportive of staff development and is currently sponsoring my route to a Professional Engineering certification. I also spent three months working with our Australian subsidiary, Jemena, and was able to better appreciate both the similarities and differences of a utilities company in different countries."

"As SP powers the nation, it is the ideas, energy and passion of our workforce that upholds our world-class performance. And this differentiates us from other organisations. I have been given opportunities to exchange best practices with overseas counterparts from Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. My appointment as a Section Head for Gas Transmission Projects is also an important milestone. It allows me to hone leadership skills, which are important for my career progression. SP is definitely the place for young engineers to learn and grow."

“At Singapore Power (SP), we manage critical projects of national significance, with impact on more than 1.4 million customers. We also provide varied opportunities to nurture and develop fresh graduates as future-ready leaders. Throughout my six-year journey in SP, I gained valuable experiences both locally and globally through my rotations to different parts of the value chain. This includes an overseas learning programme with our Australia subsidiary, lead roles in company-wide committees, and most recently, a Masters course in United Kingdom through SP’s Engineering LEADership Programme (ELEAD). If you have an inquiring mind and a burning passion for engineering, SP is the place for you.”

“Singapore Power (SP) provides boundless opportunities for inquisitive engineers like me. In my five years with SP, I had job rotations through the entire value chain from planning, implementing to operating the electricity network. Through these rotations, I learnt about leadership and project management skills. I also gained a sense of satisfaction seeing the work I did contributing positively to the lives of Singaporeans. I was seconded to SP Engineering Board, a department set up to look into upholding SP’s network engineering excellence. The secondment exposed me to best-in-class practices and state-of-the-art technologies through overseas visits to utilities in Asia and Europe. It also opened my eyes to the impending disruptive technologies facing power utilities.”

"I am proud to be part of Singapore Power’s (SP) graduate development programme – EDGE Programme. Through this programme, I benefited from a year of structured foundation training comprising technical, soft skills trainings with on-the job training. As part of my rotations, I am currently posted to Singapore District Cooling (SDC), a subsidiary of SP where I have first-hand insight to the world’s largest underground cooling network and opportunities to deepen my engineering, management and industrial knowledge.”

"I took up SP Nithiah Nandan Polytechnic Scholarship to hone my technical knowledge and skills in the electrical engineering field. Upon graduation, I joined SP’s Learning through TEchnical Accelerated Programme (LEAP). It is a series of blended training, comprising foundation courses with assessments and on-the-job training to accelerate our learning process and build up our basic technical competencies. Having a good foundational programme and colleagues that are always willing to guide and share their knowledge ensures a good start for any fresh graduate.”

"This SP Nithiah Nandan Polytechnic Scholarship benefited me as I was guaranteed a job which resonated with my engineering passion upon graduation. My role is to maintain the infrastructure that brings electricity to homes and businesses. It is really interesting to see the engineering theories taught at school being put to work daily. Furthermore, SP feels like a second home with the experienced staff readily sharing their knowledge.”

"Through Singapore Power (SP)’s internship programme, I was able to capitalise on my school holidays to gain an invaluable experience at the Gas Operations department. My fellow colleagues and supervisor were helpful in providing guidance and answering my endless questions during the site attachments. As a result, I gained a better understanding and appreciation of the company’s field operations. I was only an intern but my colleagues were very receptive to my recommendations and opinions. This provided a more conducive learning experience. The internship opportunity further cemented my interest in this industry and I am looking forward to joining SP after graduation.””
