The DesignSingapore Scholarship aims to groom talented individuals who have the creativity, drive and passion for design to be leaders in their field of training and develop Singapore into Asia's leading hub for design excellence.
Who is Eligible?
It is open to students and industry professionals who are planning to pursue full-time studies in a design-related degree programme (graduate/postgraduate) at a reputable local or overseas institution. Applicants who wish to pursue an undergraduate degree are welcome to apply too.
The applicant for the scholarship must fulfil the following criteria:
Singapore citizen or permanent resident
Completed National Service (for male applicants)

What is covered by the scholarship?
The DesignSingapore Scholarship will cover full tuition fees for the entire scholarship at either a local or overseas design institution.
What is the commitment required?
The DesignSingapore Scholar will assume the role as DesignSingapore Associate and contribute to the Council's projects when required.
Local Scholarship
No service commitment is required upon graduation. The DesignSingapore Associateship will expire one year upon graduation from the degree course.
Overseas Scholarship
There will be a two-year service commitment to Singapore upon graduation. The DesignSingapore Scholar is not required to fulfil this commitment immediately upon graduation but within five years of graduation in their field of training in Singapore.
The Associateship will expire upon completion of the two-year service commitment.
What is the application process?
There are two parts to the scholarship application process. The first part requires the submission of an online application at the Creative Industries Scholarship website. The second part will be a manual submission of the applicant’s portfolio together with the following supporting documents:
Printed copy of the submitted online application form
Certified true copy of relevant academic records and/or transcripts (including GCE 'O' Level results)
Copy of letter of admission into proposed course of study and institution
Printed copy of information on proposed course of study (if any)
Printed copy of 1,000-word essay on personal interest in design
Printed copy of curriculum vitae and/or record of activities (including participation in exhibitions, competitions, design activities and awards received)
Letters of recommendation from two referees (referees must not be immediate relatives of the applicant). Referees are requested to enclose the letter of recommendation in an envelope, seal and sign across the envelope seal before passing the sealed letter to the applicant for submission
Printed copy of applicant's portfolio and/or samples of applicant's works (development sketches and/or up to five best works)

The applicant should retain a copy of their application for personal reference. All submitted materials will be retained by the DesignSingapore Council unless otherwise stated.
The applicant is required to submit their portfolio and relevant documents in either an A4 or A3-size file. Format may be larger if required. All submissions should be bound and labelled properly with name and NRIC number. Please refrain from using labels and notes that come off easily.
Re-Application
Applicants who were unsuccessful in their previous scholarship application may access the website to update their applications. The applicant should go to 'Forget Password' to get a new password if they do not remember their previous setting.
Application Period
Online application for the 2012 Scholarship will commence on 6 January 2012 (Friday) and close on 15 March 2012 (Thursday).
Applicants must arrange for manual submission on either 19 March 2012 (Monday) or 20 March 2012 (Tuesday).
All manual submissions must be sent to the DesignSingapore Office during office hours (between 9 am to 12 pm, and 2 pm to 5 pm) at stipulated submission dates at:

Selection Process
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend up to two rounds of selection interviews. Successful applicants will be informed of the award subsequently. All successful applicants are required to attend a Scholarship Award Ceremony.
The DesignSingapore Council reserves the right to not disclose the reasons for approving or rejecting any application and to reject any incomplete application.
