Finding Meaning in Service
Being part of the MCYS family has provided us with the invaluable opportunity to return to the community. Our work is about creating impact and value for others- they can be individuals, families, and even organisations. Although the impact may not be obvious at times, it gives us joy and sense of satisfaction simply to be part of this process of giving and service.

Paying It Forward
Even though I majored in History, I have always had a heart for social service issues. The issues may be diverse and complex, but finding solutions to social problems can be tremendously rewarding. Mahatma Gandhi said that the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. I believe that there’s value in the work that we do in the social services sector because it stems from the desire to better the lives of your fellow citizens, make a positive difference in their lives and see Singapore grow into a more compassionate and gracious society. That’s the kind of change I hope to see, and I’m thankful that a social services career presents the opportunity for that.

Deriving Satisfaction Through Helping Others
Sufian was first introduced to Social Work by his seniors when he entered university. Since then, he has not looked back. He found a deep sense of satisfaction in helping to relieve the burden of another fellow human being. The challenges that Sufian faces on a daily basis requires him to be both emotionally and mentally prepared to deal with them. These challenges have also taught him to pace himself and strike a good balance between work and personal life.

A Passion to Serve the Community
The demand for social workers is constantly growing and social workers are getting into major positions and the job is never monotonous. It might not have the ‘oomph’ factor as compared to being a lawyer or a police officer, but it is a very important job to the community.

Making a Meaningful Difference
Being an occupational therapist enables me to see beyond a person's disability. By tapping onto their strengths, I empower them in realizing their potential to lead a meaningful and purposeful life. My passion to work with the elderly gives me immense satisfaction especially when I am able to make a difference in their lives by being their advocate.

Unleashing the Potential Within You
The NCSS-VCF scholarship is one of the best things to happen to me. It is with the help of the scholarship that I am able to undertake my course of interest. Moreover, I am given a chance to serve NCSS to fulfill my goal of helping people and bringing about positive changes in the society with my knowledge in psychology.
