Socially Responsible Individuals
Being socially responsible means putting nation before community, and society above self. An individual
who is socially responsible ensures that he is as self-reliant as possible, taking care of his personal and
family’s welfare. He also plays an active role in helping those who need help.

The aspirations and the endeavours of Singapore's youth will propel us forward; their beliefs and their
work form the basis for our future. As such, developing our youth and grooming the next generation is an
important national priority.
We seek to develop a purpose-driven and dynamic youth who are deeply engaged with the broader
community and the nation at large. To this end, we want our youth to attain their full potential, be socially
responsible and be rooted to Singapore.

Strong and Stable Families
The family is the basic building block of society. A family serves as an important pillar of stability and
support for the individual as well as the nation. It is the foundation for balanced, fulfilling lives and
wholesome communities. A family must be able to look after itself, and function as the first line of care
and support for its members.

A Caring and Active Community
The community makes a difference as the many helping hands offered by the people, private and public
sectors provide a safety net for those in need. A community that bonds and cares is a pillar for harmonious
living.
MCYS works with the people, private and public sectors to foster a vibrant people sector as well as to plan,
promote and develop the social services sector. The Ministry also provides assistance to those in need,
promotes community bonding and volunteerism, and help strengthen inter-religious confidence.

As Singapore moves towards becoming a global city, sport plays an integral part in contributing to a lifestyle
for our people that is vibrant and diverse, intellectually, culturally and physically.
Our vision for a Sporting Singapore is one where:
