WEAVING A FUTURE TOGETHER
Building a Cohesive and Resilient Society
Singapore entered the new millennium with much anticipation. As a young nation with only some 40 years of history since independence in 1965, Singapore is acutely aware that its only resource is its people.
In recent years, Singaporeans have had to deal with economic restructuring, healthcare scares, terrorism threats and the uncertainties presented by global challenges. In the face of such challenges, developing the ‘heartware of Singapore’ – putting in place programmes and community infrastructure to build the individual, the family and the community, has become much more critical. Surviving them has made us realize even more the need to pull together as a nation, not only in good times but also in times of adversity.
It is with all these in mind that the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports together with its
partners are devoting their energies towards building a society that is cohesive and resilient.
The Many Helping Hands Approach
Singapore adopts a partnership model in the delivery of community and social services. The main players
are the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS), National Council of Social Service
(NCSS), Community Development Councils (CDCs), Self-Help Groups and Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs).
This partnership has enabled us to reach out to more individuals and families who are in need of assistance.
A professional workforce that is full of passion in making a difference awaits you to join our team! |
