When can I apply for the EDB Scholarship?

The application for the 2017 EDB Scholarship will open from 8 February 2017 to 10 March 2017. The selection process will commence between March to May. Shortlisted candidates will be informed via email on the subsequent rounds of selection during this period.

For eligible students awarded before the release of results for GCE A Levels/ IB/ NUSH/ Polytechnic final examination, the Scholarship offer will be known as "provisional" and will be confirmed upon release of the results of respective examinations.

What is the eligibility criteria?

EDB considers every Scholarship candidate holistically.

You should:
  • Be academically strong at A levels or equivalent diploma.
  • Students with A Levels should generally be offered 11 academic units. This would include GP, Mother Tongue, PW and 4 H2 subjects. For students who offer KI in lieu of GP, it would typically be KI, MT, PW and 3 H2 and 1 H1 content-based subject.
  • Students with IB should generally receive an IB score of ≥39/45
  • Students with NUS High Diploma should generally receive a CAP of ≥4.6/5.0
  • Have an excellent track record of achievements in your co-curricular activities
  • Possess exemplary character and conduct
  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore PR

How is the selection process like?

Upon receipt of your complete application on the BrightSparks portal, candidates assessed to be a good fit will be contacted to participate in the EDB Scholarship interviews. Shortlisted candidates will be discussing real problem statements with our interviewers. You will also be able to meet members of the EDB senior management team should you proceed to the Final Panel Interview.

What does the EDB Scholarship cover?

Besides supporting the tuition fee of your undergraduate and Masters studies, EDB Scholarship is a full scholarship that includes:

  • Yearly book allowance
  • Return airfare
  • Settling-in allowance
  • Computer subsidy
  • Warm clothing allowance
  • Excess baggage allowance
  • Foreign Language immersion programme
